When you create new records in the CRM, they are copied or "synced" to Viper. The "Assigned To" field in CRM can have an impact on how the record is synced to Viper.
While VIPER can have multiple offices to separate programs for your different office locations and/or brands, the CRM does NOT support the same concept of multiple offices. All Accounts, Contacts, and Opportunities entered into the CRM are stored in one centralized area, although you can assign records to a specific office if you wish using the "Assigned To" field.
New Accounts and Contacts
When creating new Accounts and Contacts in the CRM, they sync to the Clients tab in Viper. Since the Clients tab shows the same list of companies and contacts across ALL Viper offices by default, it doesn't really matter which salesperson or office you assign new Accounts and Contacts to in the CRM.
When creating a new Opportunity in the CRM, be sure to pay close attention to the salesperson or office you assign it to. Unlike Accounts and Contacts, Opportunities sync to a specific Viper office. The "Assigned To" field in CRM determines which office's Opportunity Queue (Dashboard tab in Viper) a new Opportunity will be sent to.
Assign new Opportunity to an Office: When creating a new Opportunity, you can assign it to an office. This is the most straightforward way to ensure the Opportunity is sent to the desired office's Opportunity Queue in Viper.
Assign new Opportunity to a Salesperson: As an alternative to assigning a new Opportunity directly to an office, you can assign it to a salesperson. When an Opportunity is assigned to a salesperson, the Opportunity is sent to the Opportunity Queue of the salesperson's default office. Note that a salesperson can only have one default office and it is configured in the Viper Admin Site, under the Offices & Employees tab.
After the Opportunity syncs to an office's Opportunity Queue in Viper, the "Assigned To" field for the Opportunity in the CRM is temporarily set to the office name to which it was synced. Once the Opportunity is moved through the Opportunity Queue (converted into a program in Viper) and assigned to a salesperson, the "Assigned To" field in CRM will be automatically set to the salesperson assigned in Viper.
Viper Opportunity Queue
After the Opportunity syncs to a Viper office's Dashboard, it still needs to be assigned to the salesperson that will actually create the program in Viper (think of this as confirming the salesperson the Opportunity was assigned to originally). Should an opportunity sync to the wrong office's Dashboard, you can always reassign the Opportunity in the Viper Dashboard to another office.
